Iconic Silverstone up next for Das

As the mid-point of the 2017 BRDC British Formula Three Championship fast approaches Cameron Das is well and truly ready for racing and looking forward to the prospects round four has to offer him at Silverstone this weekend. Taking on the exciting British circuit, the reigning F4 US Champion is looking to continue his brilliant progress in the competitive series, add further points to his strong tally, which currently sees him hunting down the lead of the championship, and continue his podium scoring ways.

With three rounds already in the bag, the talented American racer sits second overall in the British Formula Three Championship with only his team mate ahead of him. Chasing down points in every race Das has already impressively claimed victory and taken podiums at all three rounds [Oulton Park, Rockingham and Snetterton] so far this year. The upcoming weekend at Silverstone will mark the fourth event of an eight round season as Das looks to narrow the gap to the championship lead.

At 5.897km, Silverstone is a track at which many drivers wish to race; known as the home of British Motorsport the iconic circuit plays host to the Formula One British Grand Prix annually with many great names having been victorious around the 18 corner track. Always considered to be a driver favourite Das is in agreement with the sentiment and said ahead of the weekend, “Silverstone is one of those tracks with such an illustrious history that it makes you feel privileged to simply be at. Every part of the track is really exciting to drive, enjoyable and the high speed bits in particular are mesmerizing.”

Last time out at Snetterton, Das continued to collect all-important points and maintains his second position in the championship despite a challenging weekend in mixed conditions. The talented 17 year old even made sure to once again grace the podium continuing his great run of trophy collecting in the highly competitive championship. Speaking of the last round Das reflected, “Snetterton was definitely tough for me. I felt like I was on the back foot a little and in ‘catch up’ mode for the rest of the weekend after qualifying but I’ve been working with my engineer Paul [Anderson] and we’ve been using the simulator and data to maximize our Friday testing so I’m looking forward to getting back out there this weekend.”

Having been one of the key players to watch since first turning a wheel in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship and an immediate title contender, Das said of his championship ambitions, “As a racing driver you are always looking for more however second overall in the Championship is exactly what I was hoping for as a mid-season result. This weekend the goal is to reel in Enaam [Ahmed] so that I can close in on the lead of the Championship. However I’m really looking forward to enjoying the excitement that Silverstone has to offer and will be pleased to racing there.”

Das will first be out on track at Silverstone for practice sessions on Friday before qualifying and three races over the course of the weekend as the mid-point of the season beckons.
